WWF and Glittertits13

Yea Horns!

Almost had an emergency. My shark hand-helf vaccuum was stuffed with dog hair. I put my finger deep into it to pull out the clumps and my finger got stuck. I was almost in panic mode, but I got it out. I have to say that the Shark is one of the best products ever when you have hardwood floors and pets...and a real Xmas tree.

So I LOVE Scrabble. Used to make my kids play it any time we lost power. Well my daughter got me addicted to Words with Friends. I typically play with random opponents. So now, I dont' know what to think. Glittertits13 (guessing at her occupation) is beating me like crazy and I have a journalism degree.

I got all my Xmas stuff down and put away. My tree is still so fresh and smells so good. I left it in the stand and put it in my side yard, so it looks like I have a tree growing. I'll take the stand off and put it out on recycle day which is a few days away.

So today, I intend to buy my black-eyed peans and greens for New Years. Would it be bad luck if I pass up champagne and have cocktails or wine instead? I typically get champagne for New Years, but it gives me a headache.

The little irritations

I had a great Xmas with my family and boyfriend. So good to spend time with everyone.

So I decided to join Weight Watchers to lose 10 lbs before summer. Well this week, I worked out every day of the week (except Xmas since gym was closed). I even had some long workouts since I had plenty of time being on holiday. I stuck to the WW points and didn't even eat half of the weekly points and tada....I gained a pound.

WTH? I think I know what it is. They encourage eating more fruit, some whole grains, and milk. I don't typically eat those foods much and I did this week. So anyway, I'll just cut back on those foods and stick to WW. I even cut back on my wine intake this week :)

So my irritation list of the day:
  • I was up one pound first week of WW and have decided I'm not drinking wine tonight. Blah.
  • My company's benefit system is apparently not real-time and I cannot seem to figure out how much vacation time I have.I will lose it if I don't take it, but I think I took it and the system hasn't counted it yet.
  • My company's HR people apparently don't have phones and the ones who do have numbers listed are wrong and I get the Sales department.
  • My company's HR people apparently can't answer emails about our benefits system and I need to take off tomorrow or Friday possibly depending on my vacation hours accrued.
  • The lady at Subway poured a pound of vinegar on my salad and made it all soggy.
  • I bought one item at the store using a $50 bill and they had no change and I backed up the line.....but I really needed to break that dang bill and it's all I had.
  • I asked my daughter to clean the cat box and she said "I just cleaned it last week". (Hello, the cat has pooed since last week.... alot.)
  • My son has not picked up the dog poo in the yard....we have an 80-lb dog. This needs to be done.
  • My boss is on vacation, but he keeps checking in on us every day.
  • I had to buy a whole sewing kit because I couldn't find a stupid tape measure to purchase on its own. (Figured maybe I gained a pound, but lost 5 inches last week....Hahaha)
Okay, I think I'm done for the moment.  I'm going to take it easy the rest of the day and hit the gym running tonight.

Hookem Horns!!!! Bowl game at 7pm.

Xmas is around the corner

This is not my son in the picture, but this seems to sum up his life right now.

Well I'm a little disappointed with other people's behavior lately. Tailgating, speeding, cutting people off, flipping people off, honking of horns, speeding through parking lots and stealing people's spots, standing in the store taking up the entire aisle and refusing to move over.

Really? Come on people. It's Christmas. I guess I haven't had enough of it, so I'm headed out to do a little more shopping today.

Went to the high school football playoffs in Cowboys stadium last week. The games were awesome. There were so many talented players.

So some guy on SquawkBox today said to buy Weight Watchers WTW. He says all these health insurance companies are beginning to pay for WW in an attempt to help out their obese customers. He specifically said United Health, but I know my BC/BS also covers WW. This guy, who I didn't pay attention to who he was..maybe he was paid by WW:), anyway, he says their online business alone is enough.

My daughter downloaded Words with Friends on my phone. Now, I really do need to go and buy a second battery.

I hope everyone has a great Christmas and remembers the reason for the season.

'White' people food and my new retirement plan

My daughter's boss told her to bring 'white' people food to the company Xmas pot luck since she is white. Well you learn something new every day. Her boss said white people food is broccoli rice casserole. Who'd a thunk it? So, anyway I'll be making that this week for her party.

On another note, I made chicken tenderloins this weekend. You wrap them around a jalapeno stuffed with cream cheese and pecans and then hold it together with bacon and put it on a skewer. Awesome!!! Next time I will cut the tenderolins in half and use more jalapenos.

Random pic of me and Elvis last year
So speaking of pecans, they are very expensive. About 3 tbsp of pecans is about $2 and a bag is $8. So my new retirement plan is to coerce my two pecan trees to produce a lot of pecans. Must Google to figure out how to make this happen. I think my pecan business might earn me more money than my stocks at this point.

Hope everyone has a great holiday season!

TGIF!!!

It was a rough week, but I'm feeling so much better today. My mom is in good spirits even though she had surgery. My daughter is finally talking to me again after a recent blow up. My son got his immunization for college and got registered. My ex-husband brought me some things of mine he found in storage. My boyfriend took me to lunch and then came back over to work out with me yesterday.

There were 14 people crammed in the small sauna at the gym last night. Guess everyone had the same idea.....get warm.

So the boyfriend and I decided to go look at different lake homes on the weekends. Last weekend, we went to Lake Fork. Boy was the lake low. This weekend we are staying close to home and going to cruise around Lake Lewisville.

Curious to see if will be warm enough to go top-down in the car. The forecast calls for the sun to be out.

So going to try a new recipe this weekend. It is chicken breast on a skewer wrapped in bacon and jalapenos. Check back to see how it turns out. I'm pretty sure nothing can go wrong with that.

Rough week

Yesterday, my mom had surgery for breast cancer. She was stuck in a hospital for 13 hours. She came home in a little bit of pain, but in great spirits. She was immediately running around feeding the dogs, cleaning up dishes, making salad, and making funnies....could have been the drugs.

This is me and mom in the Dominican Republic a few years ago.

While mom was in surgery the rest of the family was at my cousin's son's funeral. He was 23 years old. He was brilliant and free-spirited. That funeral is one of the worse things I've experienced recently. He has such a great kid with a passion for so many things. My cousin was so distraught. It hurt me to see her in such pain. Rest in Peace Darwin.

On a cheerier note (is cheerier a word?), Ryan is 20 today. I remember being at the hospital in labor. It was the 50th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, so go figure today is the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor.  Ryan was born in Austin the same night as the Yogurt Shop murders. I remember being in labor watching the news about how four young teenagers were killed that evening, but I also remember watching Night Court....anyone remember that show?

By the way, it is freezing in Texas literally. It was 24 degrees this morning and it is only the first part of December. What the heck? How am I going to work on my golf game in this weather?

Dinosaur Valley State Park and Fossil Rim

Last weekend was beautiful. The boyfriend and I hopped in my convertible and drove from Frisco to Glen Rose. Nothing like November in Texas. We went to Dinosaur Valley and looked at dinosaur prints, did a tour through Fossil Rim, and had dinner at the Green Pickle.

It was a beautiful day for a road trip. The giraffes eat right out of your hand...well so does everything else. We were told not to hand-feed any animals except the giraffes. When you are in a convertible, it's kind of hard to keep them away. I had some reindeer thing with huge horns almost in my car with me.
This weekend I had Thanksgiving with my family. Always a blast! Watched the awesome Cowboys and looked at all the Black Friday ads.

So go figure, I haven't done any shopping. There is nothing I or my kids really need. We have laptops, cell phones, and TVs. I don't think I need a Kindle since I like to read books in the bathtub with a bottle of wine. Not sure wine, water, and a Kindle would be a good mix.

My youngest turned 17 yesterday. AAGGHHHH. My oldest turns 20 next week. Double AAGGHHH.

On another note, I have almost turned myself into a gym rat lately. I'm really digging a little sauna action after a good workout.

Something new and different...I've been working out

I joined 24-hour fitness and I've been going every day. I don't really like working out, but I'm okay when I split up my time. I've been doing 20 minutes of circuit training, 20 minutes of cardio and then I go sit in the sauna for 15 minutes. On some days, I do 40 minutes of cardio and skip the weights. I barely have time to get bored.

This Sunday, my boyfriend and I are going to the Russian Banya to sweat it out for a couple of hours before we grill and watch football.

http://www.russianbanyaofdallas.com/From_Entrance_to_Ultimate_Relaxation

Since I bought a small house with small closets, I decided I need to do what lots of people do and that is to split up my clothes by seasons instead of keeping them in the closet all year round.

Sounded smart at the time, go figure. After we had some cool weather, I put all my summer clothes in storage and brought in all my sweaters and sweats. So now, I have to walk to the storage shed and unpack boxes to get to my bathing suits (for the sauna) and shorts. It's middle of November and I turned the A/C on yesterday.

Empty Nest NOT

Well I made Florence Tyler's Chicken Marsala and it was very good. Still think it is easier and almost as good to throw chicken in the crock pot for the day. I may make it again...when I have plenty of time and am bored.

So my boyfriend bought me some new flannel sheets for this winter. Yes it is 70 degrees this week, but it was 30/40s at night. Well Billie Jean has taking a liking to them. She stays in this same spot for hours.

90lb dog watching as cat eats her food
She has decided she is boss of the house. She doesn't like her cat food and likes Zena's food best.

Oh and I thought Zena weighed 80 lbs. Oops. We've been feeding her too many table scraps. She weighs 90 lbs. She's so sweet for a Rottweiler. She lets BJ eat and when BJ is done, she finishes up the bowl.

I'm not a runner, never have been. I thought I would have a jogging partner when I got Zena. The dog can't even keep up with me and I'm SLOW. I have to DRAG her when I attempt to do a slow jog, so now I'm jogging without her.

So my son came upon some hard times recently and he has moved in with me and Hayley. He got a job at Cinemark and has been cooking and cleaning around the house and doing yard work, so I guess it's all good. He will start community college in spring. I was thinking I had one more year to get Hayley through high school and then I'd be an empty nester...instead one came back.

On another note, think I'm going to join 24-hour fitness again. I was there 5 years ago. I tested out Frisco Athletic Center recently and it is okay. I like 24-hour because they have a hot tub and steam room. So nice on a cold winter day, to go work out and then get in the hot tub. Plus my boyfriend has been working out a lot and making me feel like a slug.

Book Review: The Encounter by Stephen Arterburn

It took me two weeks to get past page four, but I'm glad I did. I couldn't relate to the character: I`m not adopted, I'm not rich, I don't own my own plane or have a driver, and I'm not from Alaska, nor do I know anything about Alaska. I had to look up the definition of `bunny boots'. I thought this rich man was wearing cute fluffy boots. Instead I found out bunny boots are military grade boots for extreme cold weather. I learned something new.

I made it past page four and was really glad I did. This is a book about grace, forgiveness, and healing. This is a short, quick read. After the initial two weeks pondering whether or not to finish this book, I read this book in two evenings. Once I got into it, I didn't want to put it down.

I enjoyed the facts at the end of the book relating to the author and how he came to write this book based on two true stories. This is the kind of book that leaves you feeling good and makes you believe that there are good people in this world regardless of income and upbringing. This book also includes questions and a workbook section that is good for book study groups and Bible study groups.

I'm not much of a crier, but this book brought a few tears to my eyes.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze®.com book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. Chicken Marsala and Grandma

I did NOT embarrass myself too bad golfing last weekend. I need a little work on my putting and short game, but overall not too bad. I had pretty solid hits, so I'm good with that.

So I did do a stupid thing last week. Several months ago, I bought this Samsung Droid. Well it would be great if it would stay charged and you could use all the SMART features like maybe...I don't know....say... making a phone call or sending a couple of texts without the battery dying.

I went back to the store and kept telling them something was wrong with the battery. They kept saying I had 4G. We kept yelling back and forth: Bad Battery, then they'd say 4G and we'd repeat. Anyway, I thought about getting a second battery, so I opened up the back and pulled the battery out to get the model number. After that, I couldn't hear anybody that called. It was crackly and low volume.

A couple of days later I was in the car with Hayley. I told her that my phone volume quit working ever since I popped my battery out. My daughter grabbed my phone and said maybe I can't hear anymore because I had stuck a post-it note with the model number on the phone right over the ear piece. Anyway, my phone works as good as new.

So on another note, my boyfriend thinks I'm the greatest cook ever. I love to cook, but the funny thing is that he likes my chicken thrown in the crock pot with some cream of chicken soup, carrots, onion, mushrooms, and garlic. That barely counts as cooking.

So I haven' tried this yet, but my mom said this Chicken Marsala recipe is really good. It is from Food Network..Florence Tyler. She said the prosciutto makes the recipe. I will make and review, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be really good.

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/tyler-florence/chicken-marsala-recipe/index.html
4 skinless, boneless, chicken breasts (about 1 1/2 pounds)
All-purpose flour, for dredging
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
4 ounces prosciutto, thinly sliced
8 ounces crimini or porcini mushrooms, stemmed and halved
1/2 cup sweet Marsala wine
1/2 cup chicken stock
2 tablespoon unsalted butter

1/4 cup chopped flat-leaf parsley

Speaking of mom....Hayley won't ride in front seat with her anymore. Anyway, we saw her for her birthday this past weekend. Hayley said we need to make a list of crazy things my mom does. So this month it is:
  • We go to restaurant about 2 blocks from her house. She is driving home and turns and goes the entire opposite direction of her house...
  • She bought the world's biggest bean bag ...or maybe it's the world's biggest love sack. It is comfortable, but Hayley wants to know what made grandma decided to decorate in bean bag chair. Hope everyone is enjoying this great Texas weather.

Yea Rangers!

Well not much to report. I haven't done anything stupid or completely embarassing in a couple of days. But tomorrow might be different. I have a tee time at 11am and I haven't practiced. As reported earlier in the week, I did watch some Youtube videos about golf swings. I also bought some whiffle balls to practice, but they are still in the bag.

My number one golf goal is to NOT look like an idiot. I've been watching the video below to help me memorize my new golf swing.

Dallas Sports - FC Dallas Soccer

So Ranger playoff tickets are pretty pricey, but guess what isn't? FC Dallas Soccer playoff tickets.

They made the playoffs. So anyhoo, I'll be going to see them. BONUS: I can walk to the game from my house.

http://www.fcdallas.com/

I haven't talked cooking much and today is probably not the day to do  it. So yesterday, it was cold in Texas. I ditched grilling steaks to make chili.

I made chili in the crock pot. I didn't have the usual ingredients so I made due with what I had on hand. Apparently this chili was NOT a hit. I used black beans in place of kidney beans, fire roasted tomatoes in place of tomato sauce and juice, and I spilled the paprika in there. So then, I attempted to outdo the paprika by adding more chili powder. So when you think it can't get worse, I made a beer bread but since I don't have a bread pan, I made muffins. The dogs ate them, but seriously, you could have used them as baseballs.

My boyfriend took me to hit some tennis balls last night. That is really hard for him to do since he's a pro and he has to deal with tennis morons or really good players all day long....so what's one more moron? Well at least he makes money off the other people. He gets nothing but cussing and panting from me.

Oh well, he was very patient with me. I've decided the 'real' tennis stroke is much like my golf stroke. Apparently, I've been hitting tennis balls wrong for years....with a baseball swing.

So tonight, going to grill up those steaks and watch the Rangers !!!!

Jealous of my young, single, kidless coworkers. They hopped in the car and are driving to St. Louis with the intention of buying standing-only room tickets. To be young again!!!!

Texas State Fair and It's Golf Time

So got up early Sunday and went to the Fair. Wow what a beating. Need foot massage now. My boyfriend had never been before so this was his first time. He said he was not a big fan of corny dogs. I was like "WHAT? No one goes to the state fair and passes on a corny dog".

Dave and Big Tex

We rode some rides, saw some shows, and I learned that a new Corvette is $77K....wow. I didn't know Chevrolets were so expensive. We were busy and missed the food pavilion, so I had to go online to find a video to see the 2011 butter sculpture. Hohum.

So it's supposed to get cold in Texas tomorrow. Time to pull out the sweats and put away the bathing suits and shorts...well maybe not just yet, but soon.

I haven't played golf in months and now that it is no longer 105 average temp...going to get back into it. My girlfriend and I are going to start slow and play 9 holes Saturday. So today I practiced by watching YouTube videos of swing analysis...not my own swing. Darn it. I left my swing videos behind in my divorce. Wish I had them now.Well anyway, I'm sure I'll have an awesome game, or at least an awesome day.

I did go to the driving range a couple of weeks ago and I was hitting the ball okay, so hopefully the bad habits have been lost for a while.

I hope everyone in Texas is enjoying our lovely weather.

It is Dangerous to Be Right when the Government is Wrong

By Judge Andrew P. Napolitano.....Wow what words do I use to describe this book? Enlightening and very scary.

Before reading the book, I was not familiar with Judge Napolitano’s ideas about government. I didn’t even get to the first chapter when I suddenly had an inkling of what this book might entail. This happened the precise moment when I read that the book was dedicated to Ron Paul, the man known for wanting to limit government control and protect our constitutional rights.

Judge Napolitano brings up great points and references showing how our constitutional rights are being trampled repeatedly. He doesn’t hold back on anyone. He criticizes Republican and Democrat presidents equally.

He makes some great points and backs it up with references. It was scary to learn how big the government has grown in its quest to protect each and every one of us equally while encroaching on our constitutional rights.

Judge Napolitano has some very controversial views. Let’s just start with a few of them. Organs (the kind tucked away in human bodies) should be bought and sold legally, gay marriages should be legal, drugs should be legal, prostitution should be legal. His logic is sound as far as measuring these laws against constitutional rights. Unfortunately his views are not very mainstream and may be alarming to some people.

After reading this book, I felt disturbed that the government disregards our constitutional rights, and at the same time, I was left with a helpless feeling. I think a book like this would be great for students learning about history, but I doubt any school would allow a book in the classroom that promotes legalizing drugs and prostitution. A quote straight out of the book “If you want to ingest drugs, the government should not stop you.”

I wish I had a video camera in my house sometimes

So I typically show up twice a week with my boyfriend's dog, Coco, who is a really super sweet Springer Spaniel. Billie Jean always comes to the front door when she hears us and then Coco walks in and gives BJ a nice wet doggy kiss. Well, she was so surprised Thursday morning. I walked in and she got her kiss and then realized it was not Coco, but an 80lb Rottweiler that she had never seen before.

The cat literally ran up a wall, got about a foot from the top, and fell straight down. Here is a picture of her after the fall. She was not so  happy.
It's been a few days now and they are sleeping in the same room, so I guess they are working out their differences.

Zena and Coco are getting along great and even go for a walk really well together. Here they are squirrel watching.

Hayley got her hair cut really short this year....so today, she is spending her money getting extensions. Can't wait to see this.

So no losses for the Cowboys this weekend. Okay it was a bye week, but whatever. The Rangers won...yeah, and my poor, poor Longhorns. Whew.

My new dog by default and that dang fake grandbaby

Well an interesting evening. The fake grandbaby cried a lot last night. My daughter should not be allowed to procreate. She is much like me.....no patience and we enjoy a good night's sleep. The baby goes back today....thank goodness.

So on another note. I get a new pet.....not by my own choosing. I have a cat, Billie Jean (born same month Michael Jackson died), a parakeet (Lucy.....Lucy in the sky with diamonds) and some fish (cant' remember their names). Now I get a Rottweiler.

My son's dog, Zena. He found her as a puppy and took her in. She is probably one of the few Rottweilers around that didn't have her tail bobbed since she's an orphan. Now I know why they bob the tails. It's because they wag continuously and weigh about 20 lbs and they knock everything over.

She is really sweet, extremely lazy, and good natured, but now I have a new task in life....poop duty. Cannot wait to see the lawn crew when they show up to mow and a Rottweiler is running around in the yard. I may  have to be at home that day.

I'm taking her in because my son's community doesn't allow 'vicious breeds'. This dog is too lazy to stand up when getting a drink of water. So much for working out today. I'll be driving 50 miles to go pick up my latest companion. Compared to the fake baby, she will be much easier to care for.

Anyway, I wish everyone a great day!

Fake Grandbaby Day, Rangers, and Bernanke

So today, I'm working at home. Hayley comes home and has a 'fake' microchipped baby with carrier. She has to take care of it for a class. My grandbaby is named Joquim, not sure about the spelling. He is crying and whining much like a real baby, but I don't think he is quite as loud and my own babies were. Thank goodness.
Me and my fake grand baby
He is soooooo like a real baby. He is screaming and we are checking diapers, rubbing belly, and then the bottle helped....this time. This baby is eating nonstop.

Anyway, had a relaxing day until the grandbaby showed up. The good news....because I'm working at home today, I have the Rangers game on AND they are winning!

As far as the stock market and economy.....yikes....I listened to Bernanke today. Boy was he a picture of gloom. Geez, even my gold and liquor stock is down today.  Those are my "bad" market day saviors on most days, but even they can't hold their own.

My first fishing tournament and we came in 2nd

So it was a great weekend for fishing and camping. My boyfriend and I caught about 30 fish. Unfortunately only 6 of them met the 14" and over requirement. The tournament limit was 5 fish, so we brought in 5 fish that weighed exactly 9 lbs. The first place winner fishes weighed 9.21....AGGGHHH. If only one of our fish was a little bit fatter. Anyway, the money paid for the weekend.

So my boyfriend tells me that he really likes fishing with me more than with his other fishing buddies. I'm thinking...well of course, I'm charming, good-lucking, and just fun to be around. Well he says that isn't the reason. It's because I have no fishing experience, so he gets to make all the decisions about where to fish. If he fishes with his buddies, they argue about where to fish, and they bring a lot of crap they'll  never use on his boat which makes it harder to get to the rods, bait, and things he needs. Hmmmm.

Much like when he told me he'd like to just date me because I'm seem pretty easy to get along with and going on new dates is just too stressful. Nice. He's a real  keeper with all the nice compliments. Wth?

So where I live, kids don't get out much. They have overprotective parents and stay inside most of the time. This weekend at the lake, there were a gazillion kids....minimum. Screaming, running, biking, flying kites, fishing, ghost stories, playing on the playground. They were loud and obnoxious and it was quite cathartic.

It reminded me of my own childhood. Back in the day when our parents threw us out the door in the morning and then looked for us about 9:30 in the evening. We hiked, rode bikes, fished, caught crawfish and snakes, played hide and seek, red rover red rover, rode go carts, and stayed out for hours.

So yesterday, watched my beloved Cowboys stink it up at the end of the game. Bummer.

On another note, if my daughter calls to tell me she skipped school BEFORE the school calls to tell me she skipped school, does that make it all better? She seems to think so.

Sunscreen and Crank Bait

Okay so the boyfriend is outside all the time. He runs a tennis academy. Well when he was younger, he didn't always use sunscreen or would forget to put it on his lips.

Well don't forget sunscreen!

He went to dermatologist yesterday and they gave him a shot in his lip and cut out a huge chunk of precancerous cells out. They also cut two places out of his face. He's had lots of places cut out, but your face and lips is a little more obvious that your arms or legs. Anyway, this is my public service announcement to everyone. Wear your sunscreen or face some pretty painful consequences.

So my pot roast with horse radish dipping sauce was awesome last night. Hayley told me earlier this year that she hates pot roast and won't eat it. Well she and her friend ate it for dinner. I had saved some leftovers to have for lunch today. I got up this morning and Hayley ate my leftovers after I went to bed. WTH?

So I picked out my own lure for the fishing tournament tomorrow. Oh yea....the tournament last week....the winner caught ONE fish. Fishing is not good right now. We had a cold front come in last night, so maybe that will stir things up????? Anyway, I bought a crank bait. It is really cute with some blue and yellow. I'm not letting my boyfriend put that pom pom thing on my line anymore.

So this should be a great weekend for camping. 50s at night and 80s during the day. Have a great weekend!

Adventures in Cooking This Week and My First Fishing Tournament

Well first, I must apologize to Hayley. She went to the store to get some frosting and muffin cups so she could make cupcakes for her coworker's birthday. She goes to mix the batter and realizes that I had hard-boiled every egg in the house. Oops. I wanted them for spinach salads. She calls me at work and asks if there is anything you can use to substitute for eggs. I do a Google and not anything I keep at the house....TOFU? Really?

Anyway, she had to go back to the store and I know she was in a hurry because she had to go to work. What can I say.....Sorry Dear.

So I made some Asian Slimming Soup this week. I didn't have the cabbage so I just added lettuce. Don't do that. It makes a mess. Every time you take a spoon of soup, a big piece of stringy lettuce will drip all over your face. Other than that, the soup was okay.

I found a recipe to try this week for peppered roast beef with a horseradish sauce. Well, I accidentally bought pot roast and not roast beef. Crud. So now I have a pot roast with carrots and potatoes in the crock pot, but by goodness, I still made my horseradish sauce and it is yummy. Here's what I used:
  • Sour cream
  • Horseradish
  • Lime juice

Anyway, it's good on my finger, so I know it'll be great on my pot roast this evening.

So the weather is going to be great in Texas this weekend. So the boyfriend who is a bass fisherman (he's won money doing this), signed us up for a tournament. This is a small tournament, so I won't be winning any new bass boats or pick up trucks. Whatever. He better give me some good bait.

He always uses different bait than me and he seems to catch more fish. WTH? Last week, he put a white pom pom thing on my line and he had a rubber worm. Really? I think I was duped. But this is for money, so hopefully, he'll fix me up right.

A few things to add

My daughter was employee of the quarter at her job at TJ Maxx. She will be there a year in December. Congratulations honey to sticking it out with an annoying retail job.

Almost had a heart attack Tuesday morning. My ex took the dogs when we divorced because my old German Shepherd, Roxanne, is very attached to my exe's young dog. Well he called me Tuesday  morning to let me know she got hit by a speeding mini-van driver.

A long, horrible story involving a neighbor screaming bloody murder, another neighbor capturing the dog, lots of lying in the street moaning.....Long story short....He took her to the vet and she has no broken bones. She went to a doggie hospital over night hooked on an IV and Tuesday morning, she was fine. He said she even had pep in her step. Whew.

The house complete re-do is finished

Here is a link to my new digs. This links shows the before and after pics.

I had a somewhat rough weekend. I rented a U-haul van to move some of my son's things into storage. There were no radio controls on the steering wheel. I'm driving a huge cargo van and I had to physically REACH over to the radio knob to turn up the volume. Well also add to the day, that we moved furniture all day, tore down a storage shed in my backyard, and shoveled a bunch of dirt to try and even out the backyard a little bit.

The boyfriend wanted to know if I wanted to come over that night....Hahaha. No. I couldn't get off the couch or get my feet out of the huge tub of hot water they were soaking in.Then to top it all off, I'm soaking my feet and I needed a wine refill.
