So I played golf with a bunch of high school buddies this weekend at Tour 18. Had a blast. They gave me lots of strokes and let me win $30...woohoo!

This was Tim celebrating because he had put his money on me.

I definitely need to get my game back on after taking a hiatus from golf last year. But now, it is getting to be the really hot time of the year, so not sure how much I'll want to go to the driving range.

So I thought I might cook up some hot and sour soup for this evening. No way. I looked at the 20 ingredients that I'd have to buy. I'm stopping at Hot Wok for a $2 cup.

I sure wish I knew where I could borrow a man for a couple of hours. My big dog needs a flea bath and I could use a helper. She is a big girl that doesn't particularly like baths.

The 9 Tions of dating

So now that I'm recently out of a relationship, I thought it'd be much more fun to REFLECT on dating than actually dating. I'm done with that for a while. Going to play golf and hang with the girls. I'm still feeling sad, but having good girlfriends is the best. They make me feel so much better.

So dating for me has changed as I've gotten older. So back in the day. I had what I called the 9 TIONS of dating.I kept it on a sticky in my purse. It was pretty simple:
  • Habitation - Must have own place and not complete pig sty.
  • Transportation - Must have wheels that aren't going to break down every date.
  • Occupation - Must have a job and like it.
  • Education - College preferred, but not required.
  • Location - Must be geographically desirable.
  • Physical Condition - Must be able to walk up a flight of stairs.
  • Sophistication - Has been outside of the Metroplex and knows what Merlot is.
  • Relaxation - Must be able to relax.
  • Motivation - Must be motivated to make me happy. Hahaha.
So anyway, that list is pretty easy to make once you get to be my age. ....not so much back in my 20s. As I have gone through the years, I have realized some things that I would really  like in a relationship which is why it makes dating when your older so much harder to do. The list just gets huge and I'm sure I've left a few things off.
  • Not required, BUT I really prefer someone who plays golf. I know that is petty, but I like to play and it takes a lot of time and money and someone would have to be good with that.
  • An animal lover. Enough said....read my blogs. If you didn't like a animals, you'd hate being around me.
  • Someone who likes to get out of town and is spontaneous.
  • Someone who can commit and not be insecure or jealous and has a good sense of humor....required when dating a sarcastic girl.
  • Can't sweat the small stuff.
  • Romantic. I think because I pretty laid back that men forget I'm still a girl and I like romance. I want to dress up and go to Three Forks. I want to get flowers. I want someone to open doors for me.
  • I like the beach, pool, and boats, so someone who likes the outdoors.
  • Someone that can keep up.  I like to garden, fix up my house (building patios, brick retaining walls, painting the interior), take care of the pool (when I had them) and do yard work. My ex-husband used to say that we got more done in 3 hours on a Saturday morning than most people get done in a week....he was right about that. But once I was done, I could do my other favorite things....relax or play golf.
  • Cowboy/Ranger tickets are a bonus.:) As well as being a millionaire. Hahaha.
  • Someone who can put up with me. Probably the hardest on the list.
  • Someone that can use a cork screw and make a great Mojito or Margarita.

Single Again.....and Retin A

Well I'd say I'm single and ready to mingle....but basically I'm just laying around and feeling sorry for myself this week. The exboyfriend is an awesome guy....highly recommend him....but we just didn't envision the same future. So back to being the old cat/dog lady alone.

Anyway, thanks to all my friends for keeping me busy.  I'm positive that my golf game is going to get much better now that i will be playing more.I played 22 holes today...getting my practice on.

So Hayley tells me that plain frozen yogurt gives you gas. Or at the very least....it gives her and her BFF gas. Apparently her and her friend had the plain frozen yogurt and couldn't quit passing gas for quite some time...I'm talking about into the next day. I learn so much from my kids. I thought it was supposed to be the other way around.

Also her BFF's mom was dying the dog's tail blue....apparently it also died his butt blue.

My son who needs a car found a Mercedes he wants.....Really? I don't think so. He's 20....he is not Mercedes material. He's more like Ford Escort material.

Anyway, it's a rough week for me, so just trying to keep busy. I may not have a man for cuddling, but I do have a little 10-week old kitty that loves cuddling.

Speaking of.....I was up at 3am. Little kitty is attacking big kitty. They sound like a herd of elephants on my hard wood floors. They made racket for an hour, and then started at it again a couple of hours later.

So I bought some NON prescription Retin A on Amazon. Since I figured it wasn't high grade, I slathered it on my face. My face is red, peeling, and burns. This stuff is potent. I'm giving it up for a while until my face is feeling better. I only put it on for 2 days in a row. Yowza.

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer and vacations.

Finally got my beach fix.....and another addition to the family

I went to Orange Beach, Alabama last week and had a great time. Lots of walking, lots of ocean, lots of seafood and beer, and lots of relaxing. We also watched fishing from the pier and went to Pensacola to the Naval Base. I saw dolphins and lots of sting rays.

So before I leave for my trip, my daughter's car starts making a horrific noise. Sounded like a belt issue. I drop it at a shop known for their honesty, but the guy is on holiday. AAGGGH. So I take the car to NTB as I'm hoping to get it fixed before I leave for my trip.  NTB tells me it will be $1600. I  need an idle pully, a/c condenser and compressor, power steering belt and some other belts. Oh and we have no problems with the a/c so I was shocked by all of the a/c equipment we needed.

Well this is a 12-year old Nissan with dings, dents, chipped window, and ugly as Pelosi. Long story short, I left my 17-year old daughter my BMW to drive while I went on vacation. Needless to say, I was a little worried about that all week long. Oh, and by the way, I took her car to the honest mechanic when I got home. A bolt holding a bracket for a belt had fallen into the engine. They took out the loose bolt and put a new one in and charged me $75. The car is quiet again.

To top it off, the day I leave a big storm hits Frisco. That morning I had a tree service out trimming my huge tree in the backyard because it is close to my house. Thank goodness for the timing on that. Anyway, that night, a huge limb breaks off of a tree in the front yard (not close to the house), but obviously close to the cable....I have had no cable or Internet for a week now.  The guys came out and said they need the big boys in a bucket truck.I'm hoping they arrive today. I'm reading library books and using RedBox.

So I had a great trip. I come home and meet my kids at their work. They ask me if I have been home yet and I say no. They start grinning. I keep asking them what they did to my house while I was gone and they keep saying nothing. My boyfriend, who is obviously smarter than me and  knows my daughter better, says "What kind of animal did you bring home?" Well, I have a new kitty. She is so cute. She was born under a neighbor's house and covered in fleas.

There is something so cathartic about sitting on the back patio in the shade with my daughter, listening to music, me having a glass of wine, while both of us are pulling fleas off the kitty. Fortunately, Zena and Billie Jean seem okay with the new addition.
